SKIMMING SECURITY DEPOSITS

New York requires landlords to place security deposits in interest-bearing savings accounts, and furnish the account numbers and bank names to tenants, along with the interest earned on their money. Landlords can either cut a check or reduce the rent. by the accrued amount.  I caught GreyHill flat-footed and red-handed when I demanded to know the whereabouts of thirty thousand dollars in security deposits, and they sent a process server as fast as the laws of inertia would carry him.

Email after email with demands for bank account numbers and interest payments went unanswered, and the flyers I glued to the walls of the buildings to inform tenants of their rights, mysteriously, promptly vanished. So I called Letiticia James, the Attorney General of New York.

Who told me that, without the complaints of other residents, it was my word against the word of GreyHill. It mattered not that they would face certain retaliation by eviction, so CLICK.

As part of my agreement with GreyHill's attorney David Green, he promised compliance with the deposit law, and the return of mine. Since I knew GreyHill had no idea where my deposit actually was (because they were too stupid to demand it from the previous owner), they had no idea what was the actual amount. So I soaked them, and then their attorney reneged on the legal agreement he made with me. Information would only be supplied on demand, and ase by case, and if I wanted anything further, I could goi fuck myself. Which means thousands in security deposits are still in their pockets.
